I spent a while last night trying to get a glimpse of Comet C/2009 P1 Garradd. I progressively refined my alignment, then homed in on the RA/DEC given by the BAA/SPA ephemeris. Even with a magnitude of 7.6, there was so much moonlight that all I managed to see was a dim grey fuzzy, then a bit of additional cloud reflecting the moonlight made even this difficult. I was fairly confident I was on target, although Stellarium shows a nearby globular cluster (NGC 7006, mag 10.6) only half a degree away for the ephemeris position.. I'll try again when there is less moon.
