ISS ?

Created Sun Mar 11, 2012 2:18 am by Colin Lionvillas (deleted) Sun Mar 11, 2012 2:18 am in category Allgemein.

Hi. during the evening of 10 march while looking with my binoculars at the Orian nebular, a satellite passed my field of view traking east to west. could this have been the ISS?

The view of the nebular was great, could just make out two points of light within it. look forward to seeing it using one of the telescopes at NLO.

Wednesday 15th

Last night the seeing looked really good no dew on the cars at midnight and jupiter looked nice and clear visually unaided.

Early in the evening I decided to take a snap shot of the Moon with my semi-DSLR the Fujifinepix S5600.

Turned out quite well for a candid shot.

Observed Jupiter with my binoculars could see all four moons and above a tiny spec Uranus.

Wednesday 15th

Created Wed Sep 15, 2010 9:42 pm by Dave Wed Sep 15, 2010 9:42 pm in category Allgemein.

Well, Monday and Tuesday were clouded out but at least I sorted out the interface between Starry Night and the CG5 so not a total loss.
Tonight I have set up on the balcony, nice hard surface, and aligned several times to get it as accurate as possible, still a little drift but ok for 20 second subs, doing some 30 second subs now and will see how they go.
Got Uranus capture I think but think focus was way out, will check out the images and see if there is any data there at all.
The subs i am now doing is M33 the Pinwheel Galaxy, wow this is big, it is filling my screen just hope I can get at least a little detail with such short subs. I did get some data from short subs of Andromeda on Saturday so hopefully this will turn out ok too.
Apart from slight drift the mount seems steady so hopefully the mount won't need an upgrade for a while ( I see an Xmas list with an eq6 on it!)
Will upload pics later if they have any data in them.

Mon night 13th

Really rubbish day, outside playing "Games" for teambuidling all day in the rain. Sent them to bed at 10pm with ligths out at 11:00pm then did a wander around to check on them and discovered that the sky was amazing. I could see casseopia clearly including some of the smaller stars between the W ones. Saw the plough and the square of pegasus. All very clear.
Totally grey, and drizzly this morning though. And have got wet again all day.

Plans for the coming week

Created Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:58 pm by Dave Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:58 pm in category Allgemein.

Monday and Tuesday - Do further trials of new scope to try to shake down the balance alignment issues noted on Saturday
Wednesday - Try some more images of Jupiter from my warm and sedate home!
Thursday - Stream the moon on ustream ( or Jupiter and moons if it's not available)
Friday - Begin the homework set by Kate (Maybe even RGB for M27)

Or...

None of the above if the clouds don't obey!
